A beautiful smile is impossible without taking care of the health of your teeth and gums. Even such a popular procedure as teeth whitening cannot be done under poor hygiene conditions, so the first duty of an aesthetic dentist is comprehensive professional cleaning of the teeth (using mechanical brushes with abrasive pastes, ultrasonic scalers, and air abrasion units).
Gum diseases also significantly affect appearance — they cause swelling, bleeding, or even bluishness, as well as unpleasant breath. Early stages of inflammation can be easily treated with hygiene, but in advanced cases, a course of treatment with a periodontist should be undergone first.
Pigments from food, drinks, and nicotine stain the teeth, which are already darkening with age. Depending on the individual features and personal preferences of each patient, an appropriate enamel whitening method is selected:
- Air Flow. For young people and those who have always had a naturally lighter shade of teeth, a professional air-abrasive cleaning with Air Flow is often enough — it polishes the enamel surface, washes pigments from the pores, removes any dental deposits, and slows down the formation of new ones.
- Zoom whitening. For a more significant whitening effect, our center successfully uses the Zoom system — it can significantly lighten teeth for a long period. However, this procedure is not suitable for everyone, and requires special preparation before the procedure (professional teeth cleaning, remineralizing therapy) and a special “white” diet afterward.
- Home whitening. If you prefer home whitening, you can consult with a dentist to select the most suitable product, the duration of the course, the number of sessions, and the manufacture of custom whitening trays. This method also requires prior professional hygiene, additional fluoride treatment to prevent increased tooth sensitivity, and a diet to extend the whitening effect.
Defects in dental crowns, poor-quality fillings, large gaps between teeth, carious cavities, chips, or congenital tooth defects — all these issues are solved with artistic restoration using special composite light-curing cements.
If necessary, large distances between the front teeth or tilting and rotation of the teeth can be improved aesthetically using veneers — thin but very strong tooth covers. In some cases, they cannot be applied, and orthodontic treatment is prescribed (correction of bite and tooth position). Only a dentist can evaluate which method is best, considering the individuality of each clinical case.
